Abstract
Pneumolabyrinth or pneumocochlea, air in the labyrinthine system, is an uncommon entity. Pneumolabyrinth can result from various circumstances such as traumatic temporal bone fracture, perilymphatic fistula and displaced stapes prostheses after stapes surgery. The diagnosis is made by means of a high resolution, thin sections computed tomography (CT) scan of the temporal bones, which is the imaging modality of choice in cases of otologic complaints after head trauma. We recently encountered a case of 59 years old male with a pneumolabyrinth that resulted from blunt head trauma. The pneumolabyrinth was resolved and otologic symptoms like hearing impairment and vertigo improved spontaneously after conservative treatment.
